The Jing Hung aluminum bar shoes were originally designed by an English farrier who felt the aluminum bar shoes on the market were limited and a more farrier friendly design was possible.

Firstly, most bar shoes had the nail holes too coarse and thoroughbred horses that need bar shoes tend to have weaker hoofs a finer nail hole was incorporated in to the design and proved a great success.
Secondly was the lack of wear. The Jing Hung bar shoes are drop forged from high quality then heat-treated by a special process to T6 hardness. These shoes can be easily altered cold, but for radical re-shaping or forging clips, heat gently in a gas forge or hot water. Heating the shoe will cause it to lose its hardness, this can be partly restored by reheating the shoe after fitting and quenching it in cold water.
Finally most of the bar shoes available were thick and chunky leading to a higher incident of shoe loss on some horses. The bar shoes were made in a lighter, narrower section with a broader toe to minimize shaping.

Heartbar

The bar shoes will take most nails from E3 to CH5SL. All the three styles of bar shoes come in 5 sizes 2 to 6, for reference the width of the shoes goes up in ¼” increments therefore size 2 is 4 3/4” wide and up to 6’ wide for size 6. Sizes 4 and 5 are the most popular sizes for the average thoroughbred.
