It's
a showcase
Looking
for something new? After the latest products the world has to
offer? Chances are, you'll find what you're looking for at a JC
Milton store. And let's face it, as much as the world is getting
smaller nowadays, it's still a long way across the ocean. So,
if you don't have time to go and see it all, JC Milton will bring
it all to you.
And after all what good is a new product if you can't get your
hands on it to test it out. Well, come in, pick one up and try
it out for yourself. Whether it's a new shoe, a new anvil or a
new pair of clinching tongs, make a decision for yourself.
Wondering if there might be another way to deal with that bad-footed
horse? Well, check out what others have to say from the library
of reference books and videos JC Milton keeps for your use.

Making
life easier
The
days of ratting through boxes and pallettes only to find that
they haven't got what you are after will seem a long time ago
once you take a look at the layout inside JC Milton
store.
User-friendly
is the best way to describe it.
For
a start, all the shoes, tools and equipments are set out clearly
on racks - easier to find what you're after. Want more information
about the new pair of shoes that just come on the market? Be assured
there is a product description close by. At JC Milton, there's
no need to lug armfuls of shoes all around the place while you
look for something else. The steel shoes are all right near the
counter and we have a carry bag to put all those awkward things
or odd pairs in so that you don't have to do 20 odd trips out
to your Ute in the pouring rain when one would do.
And
in Melbourne where it's known to have 4 seasons in a day, have
we mentioned the covered loading dock yet? And in all JC Milton
stores, parking is always close by. After all, these are horseshoes
and farrier products; the last thing you need is to carry them
to your Ute.

It's
about accessibility
In
case you're interested, the behind-the-shop scene is equally important.
Stock control is fully computerized and we do our best to keep
extra stocks in the back and shuttle stock throughout Australia.
What this mean for you is that there is a lot less chance that
we would be out of something you need. After all, JC Milton works
harder to make your life easier. And that's our promise!
If
you've got the time we'll like you to stay for a cup of tea or
coffee, have a look through one of the many Farrier's journal
and magazines we have collected from around the world for you
or sit down and put on one of the workshop videos we have.
But if you're in a hurry, call ahead and we'll have your order
ready. Back your Ute up to our loading dock around the back or
in front of the store and we'll have you loaded up in no time,
come rain, hail or shine. And at the end of the day it's all a
matter of how the products and services are accessible for you.
And JC Milton is to lead the way.

The
Beginning of J C Milton in Australia
The
opening of J C Milton's store at 500 Racecourse Road, Flemington,
is really reviving what this road was all about. Just a few doors
down from J C Milton's new store, stands the building that was
once the blacksmith shop of J Byrnes and sons, one of old time
Flemington's many blacksmiths. If you stand out the front and
listen really hard, you can still hear the ring of the anvil as
the old man makes another shoe.
Look
down the road and you will see the ghosts of the many cattle that
crossed Racecourse Road on their way to the Newmarket sales. But
walk into the new shop at 500 Racecourse Road and you just may
see the point where the past meets the present, and together they
head towards the future.
Sure
the drovers and their dogs may have gone. The horses that used
to deliver the milk have all but gone too. But some things haven't
changed. The blacksmiths are still there at the Racecourse, although
they are now referred to more often as "farriers." And
they still work as hard as ever. The horses don't come to the
forge anymore, instead the farrier takes his forge to the horse
- usually setup on the back of a nice ute or on a special trailer.
And the farrier is still very often the key to keeping a good
horse running and winning. Just look at Phar Lap, what a horse,
and J. Pike who rode Phar Lap to victory on many occasions. But
have you ever heard about the Melbourne farrier who made the shoes
that kept Phar Lap running and winning when he was nearly lame?
So good were those shoes that they sent many sets with Phar Lap
when he went to America, and the top farrier over there was so
impressed by the shoes and how well they worked that his grandson
still cherishes a pair of them today. Just so that you know, that
Melbourne farrier's name is Cusden - and the shoe, the Cusden
Patent.
Have you ever thought about what a good trade farriers have? Sure
its hard work, but they get to work with horses, work outdoors
when they want to, they can choose their own hours, but most importantly
it is a rewarding trade to be proud of. It is both an art and
a science that takes many years to master. And it can take you
anywhere, in life, or throughout the world.
Now
more than ever, horses are traveling the globe for competitions
and races, and some farriers are traveling too, taking with them
their skills and experiences and sharing them with other farriers
all over the world. And at J C Milton & Co we aim to bring
the world to the farriers who can't spare the time to go out and
see it for themselves. And we couldn't do it without Kerckhaert.
The Kerckhaert Horseshoe Company was established in 1916 and today
it is the single largest independent manufacturer of horseshoes
in the world with over 900 different styles to suit every discipline
of the equestrian world. And with Kerckhaert's dedication to factors
such as superior product design, dedicated product improvement
program, together with the Company's customer-driven philosophy
all contribute to the continued success of this Dutch family company.
J C Milton & Co, open now at 500 Racecourse Road, Flemington.
